Week 7

    Monday  well I found what I needed to make it official to stay a BOAT. I made sure that everything was neat and tiddy dinner ready to cook Steak and Potatoes when she got home. You got it I had to butter it up. I wanted to go look at the boat. We went to go look at it she was not impressed I knew it was a fixer upper but hey I got time. It had a great motor almost new the boat floor needed repair. I didn't care about that I have fixed worst with all the aluminium boats I had fixed and tried to make into something they were not ever going to be. She said is the trailer suppose to look like that with the block between the axle and frame. I told yea it will be ok. So I made the deal and told him I would pick it up Thursday I had to clean a place to park it.
  Tuesday I was checking the message board just to see what was on that's where I found the boat. I found a treadmill free come pick up. I told them I would be there in 5 min. I met 2 guys they were fur trappers and that's what they do for a living. They were great guys when they see the licence plate from Louisiana they told me that they went and helped for Katrinia. This is the 5th guys that I have met that went down to help Louisiana the guy I bought the boat went down and helped too. I told what happen did the whole island go to Louisiana and work. He said pretty much they worked through the winter and came back April it was getting a little warm for them. They canned meat I told them that they had to teach me how to do that. One gave me their card and said call me anytime we will teach you. They gave me some beaver meat canned that was some good stuff. I told you that I would eat anything at least once. They told me they were the same way at least try it once. They were looking for someone to sew their furs I told them that Carol sewed that I would try and talk her into it. I might be pushing my luck a little. I can just imagine how that conversation will go HELL NO I have a job you go get one. I might have to learn to sew on beaver hides. Hey Tom on mountain men dose it. Oh by the way when she came in and saw the treadmill she said this is for me are you trying to tell me something. I said Oh no it is for me I need to get in a little better shape. Whoo I almost lost the buttering job.
  Wednesday I didn't do much today still buttering her up. I did the self paper that she was wanting to do Saturday.  Hey I got to do what I have to the boat comes tomorrow and I still have to make a place for it. So the rest of the day was cleaning.
  Thursday I went to get the boat. I hooked it up ask for the paper work for the boat and trailer. He didn't have the registration for the boat and his wife is still looking for the title for the trailer. He told me that I could get the boat done at all places the DMV. I thought my favorite place but the DMV wildlife and fisheries do the boats in Louisiana. So I hooked up and pulled it down the road. Remember when she said about the trailer well I got about a mile down the road and I heared a loud snap and then it started chirping. I pulled off the road about a mile away this road doesn't have but 2 places to pull off. One side is solid rock cliff and the other side is straight down. It had a pull off I checked it. The spring had broke and it was just hanging. I just figured 15 mph 5 more miles I can make it I didn't have anybody to call. I just puckered up the old butt hole and drove. I did make it the place I had to put it was tight but it fit. I went to the wildlife and fisheries first they told me the DVM registers boats I guess he was right Louisiana Wildlife works with all boats no trailers. I went to the DMV to see what I needed the lady was laughing when I came into the door I said yes I am back. I told her that I bought a boat and needed it registered. Now this was easy she said take this form fill it out and I can get it done for you. They didn't need old registration didn't need a bill of sale just the boat info and the name of the previous owner. Man in Louisiana you almost need to put up your first born to get a used boat registered. If it didn't come from a dealer it was a pain I had been through that twice. I guess that here everything is so remote they don't care.
   Friday it was family day I called and talked to some of the sisters and Joey my brother sent a group text with a picture of a plate with lima beans and corn chips. That was my daddy's favorite supper just made me hungry that looks like Saturday's supper I can just taste it now. KIelley said yuck but she was the youngest and didn't get as much limas as we did. Daddy thought he was going to starve if he didn't get them once a week. I told them I would have some can beaver meat when they got here this summer. It really didn't go over real well in the group text some said that they were packing food when they came to visit. I made homemade cinnamon rolls and sent a picture. The sisters said that is what i am talking about. Hey still buttering up I got a few things I need for the boat. It is the old saying if mama ain't happy nobody is happy. It just me and her so I got to kept mama happy. I can't blame it on the kids anymore.
  Saturday I got back on the message board again she is going to kill me if I don't get off this thing. I found a garage sale and had to go it had fishing stuff listed first on the list. I had to go check that out Hay it is just in my nature. I made the excuse I had to get the name of the owner to get the boat registered. She is doing school work and I could hear them filmier huffs so I though I might need to make myself scarce. I found a net they use up here they are huge. I found a smaller net, ice chest and 2 rods and reels. The ice chest was the best buy 2 nets and chest for 15 dollars. The ice chest up here are gold. I bought the cheap breeze ice chest from walmart for 17 dollars they are 39 bucks here. I got all for 45 not bad in my book but hers might be not so much. I cooked the lima beans and corn chips she didn't think it was going to be that good 2 bowls for her and 3 bowls for me we were stuffed.
  Sunday was just a lazy day. I got up and football I am still trying to get used to it 9 am is kickoff for the Saints. We are 3 hrs ahead or behind it is acording witch way you look at it. I can watch til half time then go get ready for church. I have to tape the 2and half. It is better when you come in and see that they won. You don't have to worry about the bone head plays they make because you know they won. After watching the game we just chilled I really couldn't go to far 3 bowls of beans is just about like eating fried fish.

Week 6

This one will be short I didn't get much done I just relaxed around the house. Like I said the other house was small I didn't know you could enjoy walking more than 10 steps from the couch to the bathroom. I had to change a few other things into our name and look for stuff for the house. I might have to change the light switches flip up for off and down for on. Carol said change them but I just might give her alittle time. The more time I might get away with not having to do it. Well I did talk her into a boat it's a 18 ft alum the motor is great shape but the boat it a fixer upper. That didn't matter to me I got the time. Now her on the other hand will probably be making sure I don't spend all my time on it. I will start getting it ready to move into the garage where I can work on it. I will just have to tell her that I am going to clean it to put her car in it. You know how it is better to ask for forgiveness than permission always. Well the weather is getting a little cooler in the mornings it has been in the higher 40's but in the 60's by noon. The fishing is slowing down to a crawl you know I got a boat and it is over. The fish they are talking about is salmon but I know in a ocean there has to be some thing else to catch. They say the weather is why everybody starts putting the boats up the storms in the winter are bad windy. Some say the wind gets up to 50 and 60 mph we will see. Well I will end this one I have to go and get a few things done around here like the garage. 

Etra

I will try to add one every 6 weeks or so. It just according to what I get into I can't stop any fishing time. Well free at last free at last you might be thinking what the hell is he talking about he is in Alaska. I will give you some back ground of the last 5 weeks. I know that I have wrote about something each week but not the whole story. She is back in school and I can write she looks over my shoulder just to see if I am talking about her. She didn't care about a few things that I wrote especily about her. Now I have to live with her you don't and most men know what I am talking about. But it's not all about her. We moved in to a apartment basement when we got here so we have just been camping. I still haven't talked her into going to one of the cabins in the woods. It was fine for about 2 weeks we didn't stay there much only at night just to much to see. This thing was tiny the bedroom had a full bed in it when you put the suitcase on the floor you couldn't run a vacume cleaner between them. Now we didn't leave a mansion in LA but it had alot more room than this. My living room was about the size of the whole thing. We couldn't even be in the kitchen together. So 5 weeks that close will get on everybodys nerves even the dogs. We moved into the house Friday like I said I didn't care how long it took to move in I was sleeping there that night. You knew you were cramp up when the dogs just ran around and wrastel on the floor like they did at the house. They had about a 5X5 area to do that in the basement and knock everything down around them. We just watched them most of the night that was entertanment for the night. This is not a mansion either but it is a lot bigger than the other place. I think it's going to be another adjustment here it is town. I always lived in the woods all my life so the other place was almost like that quite and nobody walking up and down the road. Here they are up and down in the day time not at night.
  This town rolls up the side walks after 8 at night. I didn't know that they had a cerfew for the kids it is 9 0'clock for 13 and under and 11 o'clock for 18 to 14.  That is what you learn at my favorite hang out the DMV. I told everybody this is Mayberry RFD for sure. I am just waiting to see Andy and Barney stroll down the street. The town is in a time warp for all you SiFi fans. I went today and got my bench me and the girls took the trip and I saw 26 deer standing on the side of the roads. I don't know if I said this in the other post but you could go hungry here we went 100 miles round trip and didn't see one road kill no deer no possum no coons no armodillas on the road. They don't have the last 3 here on the island. But you know what I am talking about if you live in Louisiana they are every where you just stop check how fresh they are if they are good throw them in the back of the truck and supper is in. Don't tell me you don't I have seen to many and by the time I got a chance to turn around they are gone in somebody else truck headed the other way. They are either great drivers here are the deer are smarter I haven't made up my mine on that one yet. But the pedestrand has the right of way. I guess it could be for deer too.
  It is one of my favorite drives but it is a island you can't go too far without getting wet. So the last 5 weeks have been a little bit tough but it is Alaska. I have enjoyed every bit of it I may have fussed a little but still not a chance to change my mind. I even enjoyed the DMV I know you might think I am nuts but I did. So this week I have room to roam and things to get into. My next is trying to find them sea erchants I want to cook some see how they are. I will probably be eating them by my self I don't think she will try one. I will show her this page see I didn't talk about her alot. But there is always next week I just don't think she is out of the woods yet. Ho by the way She hasn't got on to me yet I haven't shaved or got a hair cut sence I left Louisiana. Now she has been making me take a bath. I am still working on that one.

Week 5

   Monday  Carol had her first inservace. I don't know it she was excited or nervous. She was up most of the night.   I got up early went fishing didn't catch a thing. I can't figure these fish out. I caught some pretty regular but I can't buy a bite. I left and head home to clean the place up. I just hope to be moving at the end of the week.
  Tuesday  we she was excited I hadn't seen her that way in along time. She went on and on about it. I see again this is going to make my last job easier. I had to bring her some stuff for her classroom and met one of the teachers. I was telling him about I just couldn't catch a fish. He told me to try high tide this time of year they bite better. I was heading home and remember I had my rod in the back of the truck. I stopped where I was fishing before it was high tide I wanted to try. The third cast caught one. I just got to ask not be a hard head. Insanety doing the same thing and expecting diffrent results..
   Wenesday the kids show up for class today. She is nervous and I think a little scared. I got a call we are going to move in Saturday. I had to go back to my favorite hang out the DMV. The licence plates are in whew didn't have to stay in line today. I don't know if l said this it's adult musical chairs. You set aginest the wall as one gets done next one steps up and every body moves down one chair.  I had to get the electric changed over and the internet. I was dreading that I figured that it was going to be like the DMV hang around there for a couple of days. It went way better than I thought. I had to go and change the gas company to. That was a breeze. Heating oil company was a little pain but it was ok. By this time it was late I had to get home. The girls needed to get out.
   Thursday I had to finish up on the internet I had a hicup. Wasn't bad took a little while. I went back to let the girls out and Roxie was just ran out the door rasing hell. I went to see and she took off a bear was eating berrys in the back yard. Pitbull 1 bear 0 she chased him down the hill. I was surprised he ran I figured he swat her and I could see a vet bill. Now Dixie she just sat back and barked like go ahead I got your back. I know how that is going to be tuck tail and run. I wasn't funny at the time but I did get a laugh after it was over. Roxie came back and looked like see what I can do make the bear run.
  Friday well I am getting everything ready to go. Got a call and 2 we can start moving. Just like I said these people don't get in hurry they change it to 4 but I didn't care. I am moving in to today I figured midnight will be ok. We did start moving about 6 we just chunk it into the trucks we had to make 3 trips but we got it all done. By the time we were through I was whooped. I did get a deal on a TV. I told you I had left mine. The owner had bought a brand new one and had this one and gave it to me. If you don't think I needed to be here it was the exact same model and size I left at home.
  Saturday we got up and looking for a bed. It was almost like the drive here. I found a garage sale. She seen a bed that she fell in love with. On the bed it said king we were given a king mattress. Ok all is great in the world. I just want to say it is 9:30 in the morning. We drove 7 miles to a ATM that was working. Got the money and drove back. I picked the bedframe up unloaded it back at the house. It is raining 20 mph winds and 52 degrees. Went back to the store that the ATM was and bought the box springs came back unloaded it. I put  the bed together with the same 30 year old screws. Not checking if the box springs fit we drag the King mattress up the stairs. Now it was only 4 steps but dragging that matress that seamed weigh 200 lbs I thought it was 4 stories. Put the box springs in didn't fit. Ok it lied wasn't a King it's a queen. Now I have a mess. We loaded the box springs back up brought them back to the store. Me and a guy  unloaded them heading back in the store. She said put them back in the truck I bought a King frame. Ok back to the house unload again the box springs and now the frame. I have to take down the frame I just put up the screws striped on me I had to use plyers to take them out. Put it back down the stairs bring the box springs up put the frame together. That was a pain had to use a hammer to make it fit the screw holes. Put the box springs in and load that 10 ton mattress. By the time it was all said a done we finished at 8:30. Ok if you are adding it up yes 11 hours to get a bed in the bedroom. By 9:30 I was sleeping in the chair.
  Sunday I woke up and thought I lost the fight with the bear in the back yard. We had to go to the other house and clean it and turn in the keys. It took us alot less time than to put the bed up. We  headed back home and rented movies. That is where I stayed in the recliner feet up and dozing the rest of the day. We are going to get the bench tomorrow I just hope it don't turn into another disaster.
